Womit ich arbeite – und warumWhat I work with – and why
Ich habe keinen festen Stack, mit dem ich grundsätzlich arbeite. Für jedes Problem wähle ich die passende Technologie – mit Fokus auf offene Technologien, um die Entwicklung nicht von einzelnen großen Anbietern abhängig zu machen. In bisherigen Projekten waren das zum Beispiel Vue/Nuxt und Node.js im Web, PostgreSQL als Datenbank, Kotlin auf Android sowie Rust oder Python für datenlastige Services – dazu kommen noch viele weitere.I don't work with one fixed stack by default. For every problem I choose the technology that fits – with a focus on open technologies, so development doesn't end up dependent on any single big tech vendor. In past projects, that included Vue/Nuxt and Node.js on the web, PostgreSQL as the database, Kotlin on Android, and Rust or Python for data-heavy services – and many more besides.

Mein Sweet-Spot sind kleine Anwendungen, die große Systeme – Planungssoftware, ERP, Warenwirtschaft – mit den Menschen und Prozessen verbinden, die damit arbeiten. So ergänzt etwa ein Service die Artikel-Stammdaten auf dem Weg vom ERP in die Planungssoftware um einen berechneten Inventarwert – damit plant der Optimierer keine Produktion, für die es keinen Bedarf gibt. Ein Micro-Service vergleicht tagesaktuell Zulieferer-Angebote über unterschiedliche Schnittstellen und wählt das passende aus. Und beim Mitmach-Supermarkt MILA bildet eine Android-App für ehrenamtliche Helfer*innen das Nachfüllen der Regale ab – einfacher als das ERP, das weder ihre Rollen noch die Regalnummern kennt.My sweet spot is small applications that connect large systems – planning software, ERP, inventory management – with the people and processes that work with them. For example, a service adds a calculated inventory value to article master data on its way from the ERP into the planning software – so the optimizer doesn't plan production nobody needs. A microservice compares supplier offers across different interfaces, day by day, and picks the best match. And at the MILA co-op supermarket, an Android app for volunteer helpers maps the restocking of shelves – simpler than the ERP, which knows neither their roles nor the shelf numbers.

Discovery. Die Discovery-Phase hat einen klar abgesteckten Zeitrahmen. Am Ende steht ein schriftlicher Vorschlag zu Architektur, Aufwand und Risiken. Der ist auch dann sinnvoll, wenn jemand anderes baut.Discovery. The discovery phase has a clearly defined timeframe. At the end there is a written proposal covering architecture, effort and risks. It's valuable even if somebody else ends up doing the building.
Bau. Gebaut wird in Iterationen mit fixer Dauer, und jede liefert eine Version, die jemand bedienen kann. Der Code liegt im Repository der Kund*innen – eine Black Box gibt es nicht.Build. I build in fixed-length iterations, and each one delivers a version someone can operate. The code lives in the client’s repository – there is no black box.
Wartung. Die Wartung läuft wahlweise über einen Wartungsvertrag oder stundenweise und ist jedenfalls transparent dokumentiert. Das gilt auch für die Übernahme bestehender Legacy-Systeme, deren Stack schon feststeht.Maintenance. Maintenance runs either under a maintenance contract or by the hour, and either way it is transparently documented. That also covers taking over existing legacy systems whose stack is already set.
